Glossybox April Eco Box

I'm a bit late on the scene with this review as I'm sure anyone who's a Glossybox fan has seen their Facebook wall inundated with blog posts already. I bought two boxes this month, after seeing Topcashback's latest offerings of £7.07 cashback, complimented by a limited offer of a free Harrods Glossybox which I was quick to snap up.

After all the hype surround the March Harrods Glossybox, I was pretty disappointed. The products were good, but I felt let down following such a frenzy, especially as a few of the products were sachets. I HATE receiving sachets in a beauty box. You get them free in magazines and at counters. So following the untimely demise of my beloved Carmine beauty box, GB had a lot to live up to this month. And I feel that they definitely pulled through.

The theme was natural products, and a continuation of this theme was the 100% biodegradable box (though are not all boxes degradable?). I actually quite liked the look and texture of the box, despite the lack of gloss. Here's what it looked like:

Now onto the contents. Here are the product information cards from my two boxes, as you can see, there are some similarities, and slight variations which I like. It seems GB are really taking on feedback that the boxes are too different/unbalanced in price:

So onto my opinions. Firstly the showergels. From a brand I've not yet heard of, Ayuuri. Apparently inspired by natural Indian scents, I was initially put out by the Sandlewood option after reading a few reviews, and I was hoping I wouldn't get it, but it's actually wonderful. Very earthy but slightly spicy. And the rose has a delicious creamy scent that I wouldn't have expected. I'm very impressed! They're big bottles and I'm very pleased to add these to my bathroom shelf. This was a full size product worth £4.95.

Next, the serum. From the French brand Caudalie, the Vinosource S.O.S. thirst quenching serum. This is a 10ml sample size, but the full 30ml size retails at £29. At first, I thought, oh another serum, great... but I used this under my favourite Korres Rose moisturiser and was suprised by how much better everythink sank in. I would never personally think to purchase something like a serum, but this might change my mind! I'm glad I've got two samples with such generous sizes I can really get a feel of the product before investing (which I may just have to!)

Now onto my favourite product from the box, the Figs&Rouge balms. These are 100% organic and I'm already a big fan. I received both the rose and the cherry & vanilla options. The latter is now just an essential for me. These are only £2.99 to buy but they are something I will always be pleased to receive. They are multi-use so you can actually use them anywhere on your body. As a lipstick fan, I often have horrid chapped lips, but in less than a week, the cherry vanilla has completely changed my pout into something that someone might actually want to kiss! I couldn't recommend it more! There are a few variations on feel unique's website, and with the code FIGS20, you get 20% off. Postage is free too, so what are you waiting for?

The fourth product is where a little more variation comes into play. Both products from natural make up brand Inika, 'certified organic' lip and eyeliners. Created from blends of natural oils and waxes, there appears to be no nasties in these pencils. I received the eyeliner in black caviar, which I have swapped for graphite, a metallic grey which is a bit more me. It seems to have a really nice consistency, and the swatch on my hand lasted all day! I also received the lip liner in safari, which I've swapped again for sugar plum. I'm not really a lip liner user but have become more interested in trying a few pencils out so I'm really pleased with this. It's not a brand that would usually appeal to me whilst out shopping so I'm grateful for a chance to try. These are also full size, and retail at £11.75.

Lastly, two completely different products. In one box, I received the Kai perfume oil. The full size is only 3.6ml and sells for £41. I'm not too sure on the size of this, but as a little vial, I assume its between 1-2ml. I usually get quite annoyed at receiving tiny vials of perfume as a whole item, but given the tiny size of this, I'll let them off. This is meant to be quite the hit with celebrities, and apparently takes on it's own scent on each individual, which is a pretty cool concept. I wasn't teribbly impressed with it, unfortunately, but I like quite powdery smells usually. So it's exotic, earthy kind of smell was never really going to be my thing. In the second box I received Yes, Nurse hand cream. I'm not a handcream user, really, so I wasn't at all bothered by this but I had a look on their website and if you're a handcream user it's a pretty good idea, with a monthly subscription available so you're never short. The fullsize product is £5.45 so it's pretty reasonable too, and the perfect size for carrying around in your bag.

Did anyone else receive a different variation? What did everyone love/hate? I think Glossybox may be starting to really redeem themselves!
